::Q&A
What time will you show
up to my wedding?
I arrive 2 hours early for a few reasons. Traffic, weather,
set-up, meeting with vendors, etc. Be weary of DJ's who say they
will show up less than an hour before your wedding is to begin.
Can you DJ for my
ceremony, cocktail hour, & reception?
Yes. I have additional sound systems and also provide customized
planning materials to assist you. I also am substantially
cheaper to hire than live entertainment.
Do you back yourself up
in case of an emergency?
Absolutely. I network with the area's finest DJ's
trading schedules with them and because I am a member of the
American Disc Jockey Association, they provide an "Emergency DJ"
hotline. I have never missed a performance, but you
never know.....It's always better to be prepared.
Do you back up your
equipment and transportation?
I have extra equipment on site and I back up my music as well.
Also, even though I have a brand new 2007 vehicle, I have a towing policy
in case of any road emergency.
Do you MC my wedding as
well?
I am your master of ceremonies which includes announcing
the introductions, dinner, dancing, etc. and other important
information that will connect me with your guests. My speech is clear and
concise, and you will not hear any rambling or corny jokes
coming from me.
What is your attire?
I wear a very classy suit, otherwise a tuxedo for black tie
affairs.
If I book Jake Ritchie as
my DJ, will he be the one to show up? Absolutely. DO NOT hire a company who will not let you meet your DJ.
DO NOT hire a company who puts you on a "DJ Rotation" schedule.
DO NOT hire a company that can't guarantee the DJ of your
choice. DO NOT hire a
company who will not list the DJ's name on the contract.
Ok, what hidden fee's or
extra costs will I endure?
I do not charge for setting up or tearing down my equipment,
planning, preparations, or dance lighting effects. There are
charges for traveling over 100 miles and an overtime rate which
I keep very affordable. I want you to have a good time, not
break the bank!
So, how much time do you
spend on my wedding?
Even though your wedding may be scheduled between 3-6 hours, I
spend anywhere from 15-20 hours on just one couples wedding. I
do alot of behind the scenes work from visiting your venue to
scripting your vision.
Can I see you DJ in
action?
For professional reasons, I do not let potential clients
crash a wedding to see me perform. I can however provide
excellent references and contact information for brides, grooms,
and vendors who rave about my service.
Why is Jake Ritchie
better than the majority of DJ's out there?
A cheap DJ will not give you a well coordinated, professional,
or talented performance. Now, I
am not letting expensive DJ's off the hook either. There are
high priced DJ's with good sales pitches that you must be
careful of as well. I have over 17 years experience, perform about 50 weddings a year, and have
performed over 4,000 times. I won an award in 2004 during a head
to head mobile DJ competition becoming the ONLY award winning DJ
in Virginia. I also have some of the highest customer reviews on Weddingwire.com, and have brides approvals on TheKnot & the
WeddingChannel.com. Finally to add, I offer a guarantee no one
else offers. If JAKE RITCHIE does not show up to your wedding for any reason,
I or my team will send you a replacement DJ at NO COST TO YOU.
Are you low-key,
moderate, or high energy, and can I control what you do?
I am usually a little above the moderate level. You have
complete control over your wedding and you won't see any
surprises from me.
Are you a legitimate
company and do you have insurance?
I have a business license and pay taxes within
the limits of the law. I also carry liability and equipment
insurance coverage.
How come you do not
expand your business and hire other DJ's? Because of my
outstanding reputation, I prefer to preserve the integrity of my
name by flying solo in the DJ business. No one cares more about
their business than the one who owns it.
