Traditional vs New Age - Dream Day DJ's

Not all weddings are created equal anymore! Being different has caught the attention of some couples nowadays and they incorporate new unique ideas to make their guests experience more memorable. I have even seen a twist in entertainment trends that are now becoming more & more popular. Here are some examples of how a traditional wedding separates itself from a New Age wedding:

The Music

Traditionally, classical music choices for the ceremony include Mendelssohn, Bach, and Vivaldi. In a New Age wedding the choices are more of ambient music, cover songs, theme music, and movie soundtracks. Another example is the first dance. I have been creating and editing couples first dances, father daughter, and mother son dances into surprise routines. Also, the traditional dinner music is now taking on a “theme” for guests to enjoy. This would include playlists such as Retro 80’s, In The 90’s, Luau & Summer, and New Light Alternative. Now if you want to keep it more traditional, you can choose playlists such as Light Jazz, Big Band, and Classic Elegant (Sinatra, Martin, Bennett).

The Timeline

Traditionally, you will have your introductions, blessing, dinner, first dance and so on. Alternatively, the steps are rearranged in a completely different order and sometimes include surprises along the way like special dedications, college routines, and early on dancing. There is really no wrong way to arrange the steps except making sure people eat at a reasonable time – otherwise create a timeline that you both will be happy with weather it’s Traditional Style or New Age.

Additions

Nowadays, bride & grooms are choosing to add extra activities or create a twist to an old one. Things such as the “Dollar Dance” or “Anniversary Dance” have taken on new twists and are becoming very popular in today’s wedding market. I have a few other ideas that I have picked up along the way that can make your wedding very unique. Contact me to find out what they are!
